Leaving Bardstown

We had a wonderful educational and spooky time here. Not many ghostly encounters but we did capture the photos below snapped one after the other in pitch dark. The black fog moved over our bed and by the last photo had passed out the window. On our way home we had to make a stop at the Beautiful "my old Kentucky home"

The old cobblestone road to Bardstown, Ky

If it hadn't been for geocaching we would have not discovered this original cobblestone road that long ago WAS the MAIN road into town.. Traveled by Jesse James, Lincoln, and many many others

Exploring town

Spent the day visiting museums and a settlers village. Also hit some antique shops and bought : creepy clown mug with three eyes, mosaic flower pot, and a collectible tin( all things we didn't really need) toured historic buildings including St Joseph's cathedral which hasn't been touched by disaster or decomposition in over 200 years. We even got some geocaching in. Breakfast this morning was in the courtyard .. In the area where the gallows once stood. We were served an egg casserole that tg couldn't eat because of the green peppers... But the chocolate chip muffins were good. no ghostly encounters were reported by any of the guests today. Apparently all is calm with the jailhouse spirits.

Trying to go to bed

It's almost midnight and I'm still awake. Tim went right to sleep but its a little unsettling in here at the moment. I'm sitting by window with breeze blowing in and the music still down on the street. I am reading the guestbook from past guests who stayed in this room... The 1819 room... Nearly all of them wrote about some supernatural experience... Seeing shadow figure, hearing whispers, hair being pulled , or someone sitting on the bed with them. If something pulls my hair tonight I may get irritable. I took another photo of the cherub hanging from ceiling ... This time I caught an orb floating above it.

Checking into JAIL

We were greeted by the jailer : Paul.. Who made a couple jokes such as when I asked what was for breakfast he replied sternly, "bread and water"(hahaha). The jail, built in 1819 has witnessed quite a bit over the years... and the moment I walked in the door I could feel a heavy "vibe" in the air. There was also an eerie pioneer cemetery behind the jail and the back part of the jail was left just as it was and had always been... Dark and dank. Our room had a deviant looking cherub hanging from the ceiling ...said to protect us from the evil spirits that may be lurking ... I wasn't sure it was going to comfort me that much though. We had dinner at historic Talbotts Tavern and hung around for some live music that played well into the night... Blues music traveling through the tiny alleyways and through our cell window once we made it back to the jail.

Welcome to Bardstown and The Old Jail

We arrived in Bardstown today and checked into the old Jail bed n breakfast. The rain held off and we were able to stroll the historic streets of this town. The jail is said to be one of the top ten most haunted places in America and yep.. We opted to stay the night there and of course chose the room once used as the "upstairs dungeon" where the most violent and dangerous of criminals were held and supposedly tortured. It should be an interesting weekend. To learn more check out www.thejailersinn.com and www.talbotts.com/
